situated in the north of Botswana, this place (18km2!) is an open-field "mine" of salt. It´s the quantity of salt and microorganisms in the water witch produce those differences of colours.
built in 1991, by the company Soda Ash Botswana, this place produce 300 000Tons of soda and 650 000Tons of salt, each year.
The lake is named Sowa pan in its northern part (5000km2)
and Ntwetwe in its southern part. the dike is not artificial.
