Who was Toby Keith?

Toby Keith Covel was born in Clinton, Oklahoma, on July 8, 1961. He grew up in Moore, Oklahoma, with his sister Tonnie and his younger brother Tracy. Keith missed out on college after graduating from Moore High School, instead opting to work in the Oklahoma oil fields with his father.


Keith relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, in 1982 to embark on a music career. Before securing a record deal with Mercury Records in 1993, he worked as a songwriter for several years.

Toby Keith’s debut album, released the same year, was a commercial triumph, yielding the smash songs “Should’ve Been a Cowboy” and “I Wanna Talk About Me.”


Keith released 19 studio albums, all of which have received gold or platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). He also won 14 Academy of Country Music Awards, 11 American Country Music Awards, and two Grammy Awards.

Keith was a wealthy businessman, and he also had a singing career. He owned a record company, a clothing business, and multiple restaurants and pubs.

Keith was well-known for patriotic songs like “Courtesy of the Red, White, & Blue (The Angry American)” and “American Soldier.” He was also an avid patron of the military and had been at a number of USO events.

Personal Life and Death

Toby Keith was married to Tricia Lucus, and the couple had three children: daughters Krystal and Shelley, and son Stelen. The family is from Oklahoma.

Keith supported the University of Oklahoma football team and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a qualified pilot with his own private jet.

He was also a Grand Ole Opry member. In 2015, he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. In 2022, he received the Kennedy Centre Honor.

Toby Keith was one of country music’s most successful musicians. He was renowned for his catchy melodies, patriotic themes, and outsized attitude. He was a great country music icon and an inspiration to many.

Tragically, Keith passed away on February 5th, 2024, due to stomach cancer, leaving behind a profound legacy in the world of country music and beyond.

Toby Keith’s Norman residence can be found at 1025 E Indian Hills Rd, Norman, OK 73069. On a 160-acre ranch, it is a 10,000-square-foot home.

The property includes five bedrooms, six bathrooms, a huge swimming pool, and a hot tub. The house is furnished in a Southwestern design, with plenty of wood and leather furnishings.

Keith favored spending time at his house with his family and friends because it is in an idyllic area.

With an elevated roof and a fireplace, the living area is extensive and roomy. Western art adorns the walls, and the furniture is composed of dark wood and leather.

With stainless steel appliances and granite counters, the kitchen is contemporary and well-equipped. There is also an expanse of islands with plenty of seats.

The dining area is formal, with a large table for up to 20 guests. The walls are festooned with family pictures, and the crystal chandelier is a focal point.

With a king-size bed, a hearth, and a separate restroom, the master bedroom is spacious and elegant. The bathroom has marble countertops and a soaking tub.

There are four further bedrooms, each with its own bathroom.

The home is brick with a Spanish-style roof. A huge front patio with a swing and rocking chairs are available.

The backyard is large and has a pool, a hot tub, and a terrace. On the site, there is also a guesthouse.

The house is in a peaceful area, surrounded by trees. The house’s façade is modest but attractive, and it blends well with the surroundings.

The garage has a capacity of ten automobiles. The property also has a helipad. The residence is protected by a security system. A lake, a golf course, and a shooting range are all also on the site.
