Who was Toby Keith?

Toby Keith Covel was born in Clinton, Oklahoma, on July 8, 1961. He grew up in Moore, Oklahoma, with his sister Tonnie and his younger brother Tracy. Keith missed out on college after graduating from Moore High School, instead opting to work in the Oklahoma oil fields with his father.

Career

Keith relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, in 1982 to embark on a music career. Before securing a record deal with Mercury Records in 1993, he worked as a songwriter for several years.

Toby Keith’s debut album, released the same year, was a commercial triumph, yielding the smash songs “Should’ve Been a Cowboy” and “I Wanna Talk About Me.”

Achievements

Keith released 19 studio albums, all of which have received gold or platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). He also won 14 Academy of Country Music Awards, 11 American Country Music Awards, and two Grammy Awards.

Keith was a wealthy businessman, and he also had a singing career. He owned a record company, a clothing business, and multiple restaurants and pubs.

Keith was well-known for patriotic songs like “Courtesy of the Red, White, & Blue (The Angry American)” and “American Soldier.” He was also an avid patron of the military and had been at a number of USO events.

Personal Life and Death

Toby Keith was married to Tricia Lucus, and the couple had three children: daughters Krystal and Shelley, and son Stelen. The family is from Oklahoma.

Keith supported the University of Oklahoma football team and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a qualified pilot with his own private jet.

He was also a Grand Ole Opry member. In 2015, he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. In 2022, he received the Kennedy Centre Honor.

The property includes five bedrooms, six bathrooms, a huge swimming pool, and a hot tub. The house is furnished in a Southwestern design, with plenty of wood and leather furnishings.
